It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Sad news about Whiskers

Mood: Tearful

Hello everyone I have some very sad news about my cat Whiskers. In the past month he has lost a lot of body weight and has been having strange behavior. He is always on top of our kitchen counter and likes to sleep there and he never goes upstairs to sleep, he has never done this before. At first I thought it has to do with his age because he is 13 but he lost the weight pretty fast and he is really like a walking skeleton. We took him to the vet yesterday to get him examined and we learned some very sad news…

Whiskers has an abdominal tumor and it is cancer. It seems that the tumor is growing on his intestines and it's about the size of a golf ball and it will just continue to grow and that explains his rapid weight loss. We were told that he will just continue to waste away and surgery won't be a good thing for him because of the condition of his body plus surgery is not always guaranteed to work. This will cost money that we don't have and usually an animal with cancer surgery doesn't always help and he is just not capable for it. We were told that he may not live longer than a month.

This was just so hard to hear because I have had him for so long…13 years and for us to be told he will be gone in a month I just can't believe this is true. He means completely everything to me and I feel like he is my only joy. The thought of losing him will just be so hard to take. My mom kept ranting she never wants an animal again and why did the tumor have to pick him I just want to burst out crying! He has been so good to us and he loves us and he doesn't deserve this. That damn tumor is just stealing all the nutrition from his body and he is hungry all the time he just won't stop eating it's so hard to watch. But the good thing is he is not in any pain now but my fear is that when the tumor will grow bigger it will and we both may have to make the decision to end his suffering. But I hope he won't be gone to soon I still want him hear but as you all may know if you have animals when it's an animal's time they will let you know. All we can do is just love him and just still be happy with him. Now I will let him eat all the chicken, turkey breast ham, and hot dogs he wants…it's his favorite

Im so sorry to hear such terrible news...enjoy every moment you can with your friend Whiskers and let him know you love him, thats the best gift you can give to him; nothing can destroy the link you have with your pet, not even death and for sure we will meet him again in the other side. My dear cat Lulu walked that path already 4 years ago...she and Whiskers will chase together the mouse who live's on the moon

We had a cat who withered away from cancer. We let him enjoy his last days, just like you are doing for Whiskers. And you are right, he will let you know when it's time. This is the part of having a pet that I can't stand. I can't stand to see them go. It's so hard and I'm always such an emotional wreck. I write this with tears for Whiskers in my eyes but I also am comforted in knowing he has a really great home and loving owners who gave him the best life a kitty could ever want.

Enjoy him, talk to him, let him know you love him. He will live with you always, forever, in your heart.

Its really gonna be hard because he has been with me since I was 7 years old and I'm 20 now. I will always love him and even death won't change that. He has been such a good boy and so sweet he will always have a special place in my heart.

Sorry to hear about Whiskers, he seems like such a great cat. The death of someone you love can really eat at your soul for awhile.

Let's just hope he stays around as long as he can without suffering.

Thank you he does not seem to be in any sort of pain for now. I don't want to lose him it will just break my heart.
